WWWFinger
Portfolio :: Web Projects :: Extinct :: WWWFinger

What is it?

WWWFinger is a free HTTP finger gateway.

Originally named 'finger', targeted at the Quake community, which uses finger services heavily for news updates on the game. Now, it is available for free usage by anybody. This version is compatible with win32 (Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000, ME, XP) web servers.

WWWFinger does not require any other applications except a compatible system and a cgi-bin/cgi-win directory to place the executable in (WWWFinger runs on the web server). There is only a Win32 version, tested on win '95 and NT.

Details

Originally developed to suit the needs of quake2.co.uk, the application provides a fully featured finger gateway. The actual finger client part is derived from Aaron Weintraub's DOS prompt finger client. The application has full configuration support and allows the output to be fully configured to match the web design of your site. All configuration is done via an easy to use web interface.
